Our students have been reflecting on the sacrifices that were made by those who served our country and their families. They created poems and posters to express their thoughts and to enter into the Royal Canadian Legion’s Poster and Literacy Contest.

Today at our Remembrance Day assembly we remembered all those whose lives have been affected by conflict. Mrs. Lowe opened the assembly with a traditional welcome.

We all stood and sang “Oh Canada”. After singing, Anna read “In Flanders Fields” by John McCrae.

The students then had an opportunity to share their thoughtful poems.

Mrs. Lowe explained to the school why we play “The Last Post” then observe a minute of silence. When our minute of silence was over “Reveille” was played. The assembly was over just after 11:00.
Some of our students’ poems and posters will be displayed at the Legion for the Remembrance Day ceremony on November 11.
