Congratulations to all the students at Alert Bay School on an amazing Science Fair. The judges were impressed by the level the projects.

The students had been working hard to prepare for the fair.

Ms. Nelson’s students practiced presenting in front of their class. They answered questions from their classmates which was good preparation for answering the judges’ questions.

The students in Mrs. Bragan’s Grade K/1/2 researched the animal of their choice. They created posters with facts about the animals and dioramas showing the animals in their habitats.

Mrs. Harris’ Grade 5/6/7 students took pride in their learning and enjoyed showing their projects to the public.

As deemed by our community judges, the ABES Science Fair Winners are:

Grade 2: Wynne James, Samara Cook

Grade 3/4: Anna Payne-Javier, Dennis Stauffer, Jonathan Cardinal

Grade 5/6: Meissa Fletcher, Meadow Austin, Jason Speck/Peyton Brotchie, Rebecca-Lynn Jackson

Grade 7: Lillianna McKinney, Aydan Cook, Amanda Joseph

Overall Winners: Meissa Fletcher and Meadow Austin

All science fair winners will be advancing to the Regional Science Fair which will be held at the Port Hardy Civic Centre on Thursday, April 9, 2020 from 9:00 am to 1:30 pm.

It’s a big job to be a science fair judge. They interviewed students for over three hours and then calculated the results. We owe big thanks to Stg. Jen Prunty, Melissa Fletcher and Nicole James for being our judges this year.

Thank you to everyone who came to the Science Fair. Our students were so excited to share their projects with you.
